“Anyone can play a show; we are here to engineer a good time.” - Scott C. Brooks
Whether on stage or not, Scott C. Brooks is a fixture in the local music scene and traditions of his region of Appalachia.
Through rich and engaging stories, hard driving timeless blues guitar riffs, he delivers authentic lived experiences to audiences from big festival stages to small intimate jams.
An active member of the local arts and music scene, you can find him on or off stages, encouraging, mentoring, and managing productions large and small, all while being a disabled veteran which keeps him from touring these days.
Appalachian blues is the music of freed men who brought southern blues and music traditions into the hills, where it naturally blended with local old-time mountain music on porches, in dance halls and unionizing efforts. Scott has lived the life of a stagehand. Introduced to blues as a young man by Daryl Davis, in a meeting by chance in northern Virginia, and furthered encouraged along by fellow audio engineer Pete Reiniger of Smithsonian Folkways. Throughout his life, he has played and worked with many musicians who each have left their influence.
Now, he lives the blues, every day, till one day he says, these will be the death of me.
